The main goal of Phase I treatment is to address significant problems in growth and development to prevent them from becoming more serious and to improve self-esteem. It usually starts in children between 7 and 10 years old and lasts for about 12-24 months.
At what age should the first orthodontic appointment be scheduled?
The North American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have an evaluation with an Orthodontic Specialist at 7 years of age, at this stage several permanent teeth have already erupted, which allows us to diagnose Dentomaxillofacial growth and development alterations before they become complicated.
Is it too late to get braces if I am already an adult?
No. A surprising number of our patients are adults. In fact, achieving health, beauty and self-esteem is vitally important at all ages, so no one is "too old" to wear braces! Contact us to learn more about the different options in adult orthodontics.
What is the best braces option to solve your case?
An orthodontic treatment with brackets can be of the conventional metallic or cosmetic type (ceramic or sapphire) and they are attached to the metal arches with colored or transparent garters, unlike self-ligating brackets that have an already incorporated sliding cap that replaces these garters. which gives them the property of reducing sliding friction to move each tooth, thus achieving shorter treatments
How do I know that I need orthognathic surgery?
Our Orthodontist Dr Jiménez can determine if orthognathic surgery is necessary as part of the treatment depending on the severity of your case
What is orthognathic surgery?
After having completed the pre-surgical orthodontic phase, a maxillofacial surgeon will perform the orthognathic surgery in a hospital or clinic, it can last several hours depending on each case. It is a safe procedure that will return your Dentomaxillofacial function and aesthetics
